URBEGO is an international collaborative platform for young urban professionals.
As a self-driven community of architects, planners, sociologists, graphic designers, engineers, economists, amongst other professions, we develop initiatives that research and test contemporary ideas, strategies, tools and solutions to urban development issues. We’re united by a passion to improve urban life and the processes and conditions that create them. We believe that urban development should provide the opportunity for more equal, participatory and shared urban life for all. This may sound cheesy and idealistic, but we’re ok with that! We’re young and creative after all!
Since 2012 Urbego has developed 4 core methodologies, conducting numerous participatory programmes, including 20 workshops, exhibited its results in 16 countries and engaged 300 young professionals along the way. We’ve built a strong community with a broad skill set and a drive to develop initiatives; from café talks to walkability strategies to public space designs.
How we work
Urbego functions as a self-driven network and project platform. We initiate and respond to calls from development agencies, private firms and public authorities, building coalitions and partnerships to explore local urban issues as well as broader urban trends. As an organisation Urbego exercises three core principles; utilising co-creation, participatory planning and the engagement of youth in all of our activities.
The platforms activities are overseen by a founding group of young professionals who help coordinate network activities, support project applications, communicate their results, and take care of practicalities such as travel costs and the website.
All in all, however Urbego operates through the energy and voluntary engagement of its network.
